I have been looking forward to shooting this event since I found out about it in May. Unfortunately, I had some other commitments come up - so I was only able to shoot the first couple of hours of proceedings.
Tearing myself away from the pinaclea of German engineering was not an easy task - but I didn't leave empty handed! Below we have a gallery of circa 160 pictures - that represents my favourite 1% of what I took. There may look to be a couple of duplicates - but in fact they're just very similar, and I couldn't pick between them, so on occasion I've included both.
Shutter speed varied a lot - but as is usual for me, I did tend to focus on the slower shutter speeds (down to 1/40th). As a result there's a mix of really sharp and significant motion-blur.
As with all such images, there's definitely a compromise in clarity with such slow shutter speeds. If I didn't think it "worked", you won't find it here. Am certainly interested in feedback if you have a different opinion. You can contact me though this website or over on facebook.
If you think you like them - you should really buy one (or ten!) - the originals are at least 4000px across, and I absolutely guarantee you'll be happy with the outcome. Taking and editing photos takes a lot of time, the equipment and this website costs money. Yada yada yada. I'm also happy to stylise/re-crop etc anything you buy - just send me an email (or facebook also works)
Note: All images are available for free download - click on the download symbol at the top of the page when viewing a single photo.
Note: Purchased images are all at least 4000px across (about 4-5 times the size you see them in the gallery) and do not have the large watermark.
How slow is 1/40th of a second? This gives you some clue...
1/40th of a secondQuite a lot going on...
Most photos were shot at 1/60th - still a fair amount of motion going on in those shots...
SBR-4Kx---20191020-NKN_3157Faster than any forklift.
At 1/100th of a second, it's like shooting fish in a moderately large barrel. Sure were some ugly fish...
SBR-4Kx---20191117-SBR_1680I'm guessing this car was sponsored by engine builders - not a body shop.
