Note: Images are sorted. BIKES, then CARS, then BICYCLES.
No one likes long weekends, at least not if you're concerned about licenses and points. Knowing this, I wasn't expecting much when I set out on Monday of the long weekend, so I can't say I was particularly surprised that it was indeed quiet. I deliberately headed out early in the hope that I may be able to catch more bicycles - since if anything, they're at lower risk on double-points weekends.
Bicycles are challenging to shoot for different reasons. Not the least of which because riders tend to move their head around, which makes capturing them a lot harder than you'd imagine with their slower pace. Interestingly, there also is a point at which slower becomes harder to pan with smoothly, or at least this is my standing excuse for a significantly higher miss-rate than i had expected.
Patchy cloud is always a challenge, and i lost a few more shots to blown out backgrounds when the sun did rear it's head.
I've also incorporated a few new techniques in my processing in this gallery, mostly subtle but it does give a different feel to some shots.
As is usual, the gallery progresses from 1/100th to 1/60th. After a week of late nights, I've whittled the original 3670 images down to the gallery of 280 images. I did get a little experimental on some of the otherwise "duplicate" images. See what you think...
If you find something you like - it'd be great if you could value my time and effort by purchasing an image or three. $10 is a screaming deal - I put real effort into each and every photo I publish. Note now you also have the option to buy yourself a photo, and throw an extra beer my way. No obligation, but if you would like to, now you can.
Note: Purchased images are all at least 4000px across (about 3.5 times the size you see them in the gallery) and do not have the large watermark.
